Anesthesia and Patient Monitoring

Making sure our patients remain safe during surgery and other medical procedures is extremely important to us. You can be confident that we use the most effective and up-to-date protocols available. Depending on your pet’s specific needs and the procedure to be done, our veterinarians have a wide variety of drugs and protocols available to ensure the safest anesthetic outcome. Some patients require special attention due to their small size (kittens, puppies and miniature breeds), advanced age, medical condition or compromised airways (such as obese patients or certain breeds like bulldogs, pugs, Pekinese, Boston terriers, etc.). We routinely perform anesthesia on high-risk patients without complications, due in part to our veterinarians and veterinary technicians’ skill in using various anesthetics, as well as careful monitoring of our patients to ensure their safety and the most comfortable experience possible. Some procedures require general anesthesia, while others may only call for local anesthesia, with or without sedation. We closely monitor every patient, regardless of whether it’s a simple procedure or a more complicated and advanced surgery. For more specific information on our protocols, please see the individual descriptions or contact us with any questions.
